Megan O’Leary

I am a registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), a member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS) and a Board Approved Supervisor.
I have experience working across a broad range of services, including private practice, community mental health and hospital settings, and have experience working with a variety of clients across the lifespan.
I have a particular interest in working with women and have completed further training in perinatal mental health care. I am passionate about working with women in the perinatal period (from trying to conceive to 12 months postpartum) and during early parenthood, assisting clients to navigate the challenges that can accompany these phases of life including stress, anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, loss/change of identity, relationship issues and grief and loss.
I also have a strong interest in working with adolescents (16+) and young adults who are experiencing challenges with work/study stress, life transitions, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, adjustment issues, relationship issues, identity/self-esteem issues and grief and loss.
I employ a collaborative, client-centered and evidence-based approach to treatment, while providing a safe, compassionate and non-judgement environment for clients. I provide an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from a number of frameworks including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, in order to find the best approach to fit with the individual needs of the client.
Fees and Rebates

- After Hours (5pm or later) $260
- Saturdays and Public Holidays $260
Unfortunately we are unable to offer bulk billing.
Fees are subject to annual review at the end of each financial year.
Payments are taken on the day from a stored payment method. You will be asked to provide payment details and written consent ahead of your first appointment.
Fees are guided by the Australian Psychological Society.
The Australian Psychological Society National Schedule of Suggested Fees 2025-2026 has the standard 46 to 60-minute consultation fee at $318.

Medicare
Medicare will provide a rebate of $98.95 if you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).
A MHCP can be obtained through your GP and provides medicare card holders with 10 subsidised sessions with a psychologist each calendar year.
Please note that payments are taken in full. We will then submit a claim to medicare on your behalf, who will deposit the rebate into your medicare nominated bank account.
Medicare offers a 'Pregnancy Support Counselling' rebate of $70.85 to women who are currently pregnant or have been pregnant in the last 12 months.
This rebate subsidises 3 sessions with registered practitioners. For more information please follow the link below.
Private Health Insurance
Please check with your insurance provider to see if psychology is covered in your plan and your level of cover.
Please note that medicare and private health insurance cannot be used for the same session.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide 48 hours notice otherwise a cancellation fee will be charged (at 50% of the session fee). Missed appointments without contact will incur the full session fee.

Sliding Doors Psychology provides individual counselling for adolescents (16+) and adults, with a particular interest in women’s and perinatal mental health. Sessions go for 50 minutes and are available both in person at our clinic rooms or via telehealth.

During the first few sessions the focus is on getting to know you and understanding your goals for therapy. This will include exploring what has led you to reach out for support, gaining an understanding of your history and current circumstances, and discussing your current therapy goals.
In subsequent sessions, treatment is tailored to the needs and goals of each individual client.
Confidentiality
Everything discussed in sessions is kept confidential and will not be shared with anyone without the client's consent.
There are a few legal limits to confidentiality. These include serious safety concerns or if subpoenaed by a court.
If there is a legal requirement to breach confidentiality, a discussion will be had with the client prior to any action being taken.
